Two next gen consoles have just come out with the Xbox’s release on November 10th and the PS5’s on the 12th. This starts a new generation of gaming that has never been seen before by gamers. With Christmas around the corner, many teens are wondering which console to get and the decision to many is seemingly impossible.
First, let’s talk about the facts and analyze each console. When the stats are compared on paper, the Xbox Series X should be more powerful than the PS5 because of the two more teraflops it has, it also has a better CPU so it should, in theory, be faster. However, the PS5’s secret weapon is its’ ultra-fast SSD, which will probably put the console on top in terms of speed. Since Xbox’s better GPU, almost all third-party games done by developers that do not work exclusively for Microsoft or Sony should run better on the Xbox. The Xbox also has more space with a whopping 1Tb of space, where the PS5 only has 825Gb.
Now let’s talk about exclusives, which are games available exclusively to one console. The PS5 dominates the Xbox in this Category. The Xbox does have one timed exclusive, a game that is only exclusive to that console for a certain amount of time, which is Tetris Effect. The PS5 on the other hand has many exclusives. The exclusive games that released with the PS5 on launch day are Spider-Man Miles Morales, Demon Souls, Astro’s playroom, Godfall, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Although Xbox does not have many exclusive games, there are third-party games that have come out for both consoles. Some fan favorites include Call of Duty Cold War, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5 and more. Xbox also has the advantage in backwards compatibility because it is compatible with games from every Xbox generation while the PS5 is only backwards compatible with PS4 games.
Moving onto real-world experiences with each console. Since the consoles have been out for more than two weeks, many people have tried and tested out each system. Although the Xbox seems to be more powerful on paper, and was marketed that way to consumers, the PS5 is outshining the Xbox on numerous third-party games, that the Xbox should run better for. The PS5 is also significantly faster than the Xbox, as predicted, with taking almost 30 seconds less than Xbox to get into Devil May Cry 5 and Assassins Creed Valhalla. Although 30 seconds might not seem like much, 30 seconds when gaming is simply more valuable than when doing other things.
Finally, let’s talk about which one seems to be more worth that spot on your Christmas list. The PS5 has to be the winner because of its ultra-fast SSD that really put it above the competition. It was because of this that games do not only run faster on the PS5, but also run at better quality, which is hard to believe since Xbox marketing revolved around it being the most powerful console. The amount of exclusive launch games the PS5 came out with is unheard of and arguably the best launch line up in the company’s history. Xbox’s big launch line up was Halo Infinite until it got delayed because of the backlash they received from users regarding the seemingly rushed quality. There are many things that put the PS5 over the Xbox, but overall, it is the obvious attention to detail that went into making this console and truly meeting every need, big or small, of the console’s users.
