World’s Best Decorated Cities for the Holidays 

  1. New York City, New York 

From Thanksgiving through the week after New Year’s, it’s nearly impossible to consider the holidays without thinking about Manhattan. Festivities kick off with Rockefeller Center’s annual Christmas tree lighting. 

Fun Fact: The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree boasts 30,000 multi-colored LED lights. 

  1. Paris, France 

From the end of November through the beginning of January, from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Élysées is brough to life each evening with hundreds of thousands of fairy lights sparkling from the avenue’s trees. 

Fun Fact: Boulevard Haussmann has gone high-tech with the lights that you can change the colors and patterns using a smartphone app. 

  1. Medellin, Colombia 

From early December through mid-January, Colombia’s second largest city has one of the world’s most stunning display of holiday animated lights and color. An annual holiday celebration that illuminates the night sky with giant 3D figures. 

Fun Fact: You’ll find the most impressive light displays on the Rio Medellin. 

  1. Singapore 

From mid-November through early January, Singapore has celebrated Christmas in the tropics with an annual Christmas Light-up in its main shopping district. The heart of the festivities is Orchard Road, where strings lights hang above traffic. 

Fun Fact: (CCIS) infuses Orchard Road with a week of music, performances, and a series of decorated floats all honoring the holiday’s religious aspect. 

  1. Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada 

From early November through late January, over three million colored lights and more than 125 animated light displays illuminate a 5K route along Niagra Parkway in the Canadian province of Ontario.  

Fun Fact: Niagra Falls was illuminated for the first time in 1860 using approximately 200 Bengal lights, a type of light once used for signaling ships.
