Coach Giner Takes Over Badminton

Braddock’s Badminton team is being coached by Coach Giner for the first year of many to come. Coach Giner has had experiences with badminton since his high school days but, he’s never played the sport competitively.  It will be interesting to see how this season will unfold.

Giner said he has “high expectations for the boys and girls doubles hoping they go really far, possibly winning districts this year.” The Badminton team has some very skilled seniors that Coach Giner would hate to replace but he is hoping that his Sophomores and Juniors can step up for the team next year.

We had an intriguing conversation with the reigning district champion Julio Camejo. He has been playing badminton for three years. Julio was encouraged to play badminton by his basketball teammate Esteban Penalver and Coach Bonilla, his freshman year. He said he is “looking forward to playing Palmetto this season.” Last season Camejo had a game-changing injury against Palmetto which caused them to lose the game in GMAC’s. Both boys and girls badminton teams have a Youth Fair tournament on Friday, March 16, 2018.
