The lady bulldog softball team is starting the season with a homerun. Head Coach Marcote has been coaching nearly three decades. Coach Marcote says Southwest High school has always been a rival since the opening of Braddock, but in the past few years, Lourdes has crept into that rival spot.
Throughout the years her coaching strategies have changed depending on the player’s strengths and weaknesses. Her favorite part of coaching is the interactions with her players and teaching them not only softball but, right from wrong, commitments, and how to become productive members of society.
Third-year varsity player and Junior Madison Smith has high hopes for her team. When asked about her expectations for the season she voiced, “We hope to make it to district finals.” The varsity team’s record is 3-1. In addition, junior varsity has a record of 2-2. The team also remains optimistic to make it to district finals.
