Spring Break Do’s and Don’ts

Everyone knows spring break as a crazy party week when students can go wild with no regrets. If you are planning a spring break trip where you know things may get out of hand, the Watchdog has prepared a nifty survival guide of do’s and don’ts that will make your spring break adventures ones for the books!

Do’s

  • Pack lightly

If you are staying with a ton of people in a cramped space, you don’t want all the things you’ve packed to end up scattered everywhere and possibly mixed up with your friends’ stuff! Try to pack lightly by bringing a few bathing suits, a few bottoms, and tops, and plan on mixing and matching outfits rather than bringing full new outfits for each day.

  • Stay hydrated

Drink lots of water before, during, and after an event because the body loses more fluid through sweating. You don’t want to be that one person who says, “I don’t need water I’ll be fine” but is the first person to faint because you’re not “hydrated”.

  • Wear sunscreen

This is self-explanatory. Everyone knows there is nothing worse than a bad burn, so don’t be that person who doesn’t wear sunscreen because “you don’t burn.” Be prepared and wear lots of sunscreen – you will still get a tan, we promise.

  • Leave your expensive items at home.

You do not want to lose expensive items like your diamond earrings in the ocean, leave your phone in the sand, or leave your Prada sunglasses behind at the beach. Keep expensive belongings to a minimum and make sure whatever you do bring, make sure you secure it safely before heading to the water.

  • Be safe

Don’t use spring break as a time to be reckless. A little fun never hurt anyone but remember to always stay safe. It’s no fun if you can’t make it through.

Spring break is a week dedicated to making memories with friends and family. It’s a time given to take a break from school and enjoy the weather. Although it should be a week filled with fun, many students forget about responsibilities and go a little crazy. It’s important to remember to take care of yourselves and plan your time wisely. Here are 5 Dont’s for a successful spring break.

Don’t

  • Leave trash behind

Every year multiple beaches are left with litter after the spring breakers leave. Have fun but respect the area and pick up after yourselves.

  • Lose your phone!

If you do end up losing your friends, your phone needs to be the backup plan. Losing your phone and your friends = bad situation. Keep track of your friends most importantly, but if you can’t do that, always hold on to your phone so that you can find them if you do end up losing them.

  • Forget to Make a Playlist

You don’t want your aux privilege to be revoked! Make sure you have a beach playlist ready so you can set the mood for a lit spring break. P.S. Add variety to the list, it will make for funny conversations!

  • Let little things bother you

Don’t let the small things bother you. Yeah, you are going to get annoyed with the crowds and cramming 20 people in a seven-person condo will give you a headache at some points during the week, but those little worries are nothing compared to the fun you are sure to have. Don’t be that cranky person in the house.

  • FORGET TO HAVE FUN!!

You’re there for a reason! To have a fun vacation and break from school with your friends. So, live it up, don’t forget to have fun, and keep all these do’s and don’ts in mind while you’re there! Don’t forget to be safe! Happy spring break!
